Russian State Duma chief stresses need to prevent repetition of tragedy like holocaustFebruary 1, 2023
Byacheslav Volodin, chairman of the State Duma of Russia, pointed to the need to do everything to prevent the repetition of such tragedies as the holocaust.
In the appeal he issued on the occasion of January 27, the memorial day for victims of the holocaust, he described the holocaust as one of the most heinous crimes in history.
It is important to remember the truth about this horrible incident and cherish the memories of all the people who laid down their lives to liberate the world from fascists, he said.
Today, accomplices of Nazism in Ukraine, countries bordering the Baltic Sea and some other European countries are making another attempt to distort history, deny the massacre and question the decisive role played by the Soviet army in defeating fascism while destroying monuments to and graves of those who dedicated their lives to the freedom of Europe, he asserted.
