According to information published by the World Health Organization, over 79 000 persons contracted monkeypox virus and 50 died of it in the world as of November 15.

Thirty of the deceased are in American regional countries including the US, Brazil, Mexico and Ecuador.

The Ministry of Public Health of Chile announced on November 16 that the first death from the disease occurred in the country.
