Upper Eight PoolsFebruary 3, 2023
Eight big pools are located above Kuryong Falls in Outer Kumgang in the celebrated Korean mountain of Kumgang, and they are called Upper Eight Pools.
The scenery is unusually beautiful for the crystal-clear water flowing into the pools of curious shapes like sparkling gems.
The area consists of large rocks without soil and eight round pools worn by water for ages lie in a row.
Clear water streams into one pool after another and drains to form the waterfall.
Both the slopes of the valley are steep cliffs and pine, pine-nut and maple trees grow in crevices.
The pools are associated with the legend of the “Eight fairies of Mt Kumgang” which goes that eight fairies from heaven used to have a bath in the pools before returning to heaven, attracted by its beautiful scenery and clear water.
