KPA General Staff: Army fully poised to guarantee any external measures of Party and government

“Our army is keeping a close watch on the current situation in which north-south relations are deteriorating rapidly, and getting itself fully ready to provide a sure military guarantee for any external measures to be taken by the Party and the government,” said the General Staff of the Korean People's Army in a press release on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the General Staff accepted from the United Front Department of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea and relevant departments in charge of the affairs with enemy a suggestion on studying an action plan for taking measures to make the army advance again into the zones that were demilitarized under the inter-Korean agreement, fortify the frontline areas and further keep a stricter military watch on the south, and another suggestion on opening many sections on the ground front and southwestern waters and taking a thoroughgoing security measure so as to positively cooperate with the DPRK people from all walks of life in their large-scale leaflet scattering campaign against the enemy that is expected to be waged.

It stated it would map out the military action plans for rapidly implementing the suggestions and seek the approval of the WPK Central Military Commission.

Our army is getting itself fully ready to provide a sure military guarantee for any external measures to be taken by the Party and the government, it stressed.
