UKSJ meets for congress

The 44th Congress of the Union of Korean Students in Japan took place at the hall of the Osaka prefectural headquarters of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) on February 26. 

It was attended by Song Sang Gi, chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the UKSJ, and other deputies. 

The national anthem of the DPRK was played at the congress.

Congratulatory messages from youth league committees of the universities in the homeland including that of Kim Il Sung University of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League were read out at the event, followed by the screening of a congratulatory video.

The congress discussed such agenda items as “On the report on the work of the Central Committee of the UKSJ”, “On the amendment of some rules of the UKSJ”, “On the settlement of accounts for the 43rd committee and budget bill for the 44th committee of the UKSJ” and “On the election of chairman, vice-chairman and members of the 44th Central Committee of the UKSJ”.

Song Sang Gi made a keynote speech. 

He said that the UKSJ worked hard to make the first breakthrough for the implementation of the historic letter sent by General Secretary Kim Jong Un to the participants in the 25th Chongryon Congress during its review.

Speeches were made. 

The congress adopted the report as its decision. 

There were reports on the second and third agenda items and deliberation results were adopted with unanimous approval. 

Song Sang Gi and Kim Sang Hyon were reelected chairman and vice-chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the UKSJ.
