Work for improving medical service intensified, pharmacies on the increase
October 17, 2024The work to further improve the quality of medical service is gaining momentum.
A noticeable thing is the expansion and introduction of the emergency medical service control system in different parts of the country.
At present, an emergency command post has been set up in every province and accordingly a work system has been established to control and guide the emergency medical service at provincial-, city- and county(district)-level hospitals and the lowest treatment and preventive institutions in a unified way and the system is in full operation.
Kangwon Province has pressed on with the work to enhance the role of provincial emergency command post staff and the work to enlist medical workers, who are tasked with grasping the situations of curative and preventive institutions, in the introduction of an advanced medical service system so as to take stock of problems arising there and take immediate necessary measures. By doing so, it ensures that the validity of the work is fully displayed.
South Hamgyong Province has established a scrupulous work system so that not only public health institutions but also different means, which are located near the scene of emergency, can be introduced effectively into emergency medical service.
It also intentionally organized training at a higher hospital to improve the clinical qualifications of medical workers and provided them with conditions for receiving technical lectures of the central hospital medical team through the telemedicine system.
As a result, the general level of emergency medical service has been raised, and a foundation has been laid for scientifically guaranteeing the lives and safety of the people. Shortly ago, the provincial people’s committee has conducted a demonstration for public health officials of other similar committees.
The construction of standard pharmacies is also progressing on a nationwide scale.
After setting the size of standardized pharmacy according to the population and characteristics of the relevant regions, Pyongyang Municipality organized work scrupulously to finish the construction project in a short span of time, thus completing the construction of standard pharmacies in districts and counties of the city.

The construction of standard pharmacies has been completed in South Phyongan and South Hwanghae provinces and preparations for their operation are progressing at the final stage.
A standard pharmacy in Sunam District of Chongjin, is being built as a provincial model in North Hamgyong Province by drawing on the experience gained in building such a pharmacy in Kilju County.
