A spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry denounced the US’ threat to BRICS at a press conference on February 17.

Recently the US administration threatened to collect 100% tariffs from the countries intending to challenge the US dollar, claiming that BRICS has already come to an end.

Answering a relevant question by a reporter, the spokesman said BRICS is a newly emerging market and an important arena for cooperation between developing countries and that it neither pursues confrontation between camps nor targets a third party.

BRICS is aimed at realizing common development and prosperity, he said, adding that there is no victor in trade war and tariff war and that such wars only do harm to the common interests of the peoples of all countries.
