Staff members of the Russian embassy in Pyongyang laid a wreath at the Liberation Tower on May 9 on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Russia’s victory in the Great Patriotic War.
The honour guards of the Korean People’s Army lined up at the tower.
Present at the wreath-laying ceremony were Alexandr Matsegora, Russian ambassador to the DPRK, his embassy staff members, Russian guests staying in Pyongyang and officials of the DPRK Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other relevant sectors.
The national anthems of the Russian Federation and the DPRK were played.
The wreath in the name of the Russian embassy was placed at the Liberation Tower amid the playing of the wreath-laying music.
The participants paid silent tribute to the memory of the fallen soldiers of the Soviet army and looked round the tower.
That day, they also laid a wreath, bouquets and flowers at the cemetery of martyrs of the Soviet army in Pyongyang’s Sadong District.
Meanwhile, Russian embassy members visited the monuments to the Soviet army in Tongnim, Sinuiju, Uiju, Wonsan, Hamhung, Nampho and Haeju, and the staff members of the Russian consulate general in Chongjin visited the liberation tower and the martyrs cemetery in Chongjin and Rason.
