Different universities across the country have made successes in scientific research.

The researchers of Kim Il Sung University established the technology for recycling waste oil generated when using oil in machines and equipment, and implemented the technology for converting harmful substances produced when removing acidic ingredients in waste oil into pitch suitable for waterproofing and the idea of making high-quality grease with some waste oils.

Pyongyang University of Architecture expounded a new architectural theory and advanced a valuable architectural design method after making an in-depth study and analysis of architectural groups according to types and scientifically elucidating the methods of ensuring artistic correlation, compatibility and connectivity between buildings by appropriately fixing their locations and scales, achieving harmony of colour and determining the composition of materials.

A new architectural design method completed by the lecturers and researchers of the university is of great significance in providing the scientific and theoretical basis of urban formation.

Hamhung College of Agriculture introduced into several farms a spinach variety offering high yields of leaves and seeds, thus opening up a prospect for increasing output. It also introduced a goat’s lactation stimulant into different livestock farms in the province to solve technical problems arising in increasing milk production.

The university produced dozens of pieces of scientific research findings conducive to the production of grains, livestock products and fruits, including a seed coating material and germicide capable of reducing damage from blights, liquid nutrient and liquid silicon fertilizer.

North Hwanghae Provincial Taekwon-Do College contrived various kinds of training equipment conducive to developing the country’s sports and Kanggye College of Medical Sciences developed a cervical spine traction device improving the efficiency of treatment and opened up a prospect for its wide application in clinical practice.

Scientific research achievements made at universities across the country go a long way toward the economic development of the country and the improvement of the people’s standard of living.
