The DPRK is a country of the people.

The people-first principle is its political ideal that has been invariably applied throughout the historical course since the liberation of the country.

After liberation, the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung fulfilled the will and desire of the working masses in carrying out all democratic reforms.

Sympathizing with the centuries-old desire of the peasants to have their own land, he set forth the slogan “Land to the tillers!” and made them masters of the land, and put forward the workers as masters of factories under the slogan “Factories to the workers!”

 In the year after liberation, more than 90% of the major industrial establishments in the whole industry were already under all-people ownership.

Since the founding of the DPRK, the position of the masses of the people as masters of state power has been thoroughly guaranteed by law.

The power organs at all levels up to the Supreme People’s Assembly are composed of representatives of the people elected by themselves. All citizens have the right to elect and to be elected, are provided with the freedom and rights of all social and political activities and take part in the administration of the state as befit masters.

The DPRK government provides the people with the rights to work, rest and learn as well as everything necessary for their material and cultural life. The disabled people and the children and old people who have no means of support live without any worries under the care of the state.

The criteria of all policies and activities of the government are the will and demands of the masses of the people.

In recent years, modern houses for the working people have been built every year in the capital city of Pyongyang, the economic foundations of regional areas have been remarkably consolidated and rural villages throughout the country have been transformed into socialist fairylands. This reality clearly shows the true features of the DPRK which reflects the wishes of the people and everything for the people in its policies and accomplishes them no matter how hard and difficult they may be.

The DPRK is a country built by all the people.

In other words, the history of the DPRK is the path taken by the people, the strength of the state is that of the people, and the victories won by the Republic are the ones achieved by the people.

The country has been able to steadily advance along an upward trajectory without any setback or stagnation for decades because it has relied on the infinite wisdom and strength of the people.

Today, the DPRK has entered a new era of comprehensive development of socialism.

In order to realize the people’s dreams and ideals, all fields, sectors and regions of the country should be transformed and the state should advance at a much faster speed than now.

The greatest strength on which the DPRK relies in this ambitious course is also the inexhaustible creativity and courageous vigour of all the people.

The patriotism of the people who link their destiny to that of the country and do everything for the prosperity of the country regulates the speed and quality of the development of the state.
