Sincerity revives patient

October 29, 2026

Shortly ago, a woman left the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital amid the send-off of medical workers.

The woman, who is living in the township of Nyongwon County, was reluctant to leave while looking at the hospital.

According to a medical worker of gynaecology department No. 2, her condition was very critical at the time of hospitalization.

Besides continuous bleeding due to a tumour pressing different internal organs, her physical conditions considerably worsened as she had undergone several major operations.

In this case, an unexpected situation might occur to her during the following surgical operation, so many medical workers participating in a consultative meeting were confused for a moment.

But Sin Kwon Il, head of the department, and its members boldly buckled down to the treatment of the patient.

While drawing up the most efficient treatment plan, they paid special attention to improving her physical conditions so that she could have an operation.

After succeeding in the operation, the medical workers continued to devote their sincerity to restore her to health.

The doctor in charge showed up to see her when her breathing sounded strange even a bit at midnight. And her nurse sincerely tended her when she failed to go to sleep due to pains in the early morning.

It was not only the medical workers of the department that cared for the patient.

Upon hearing that she was a resident of a remote mountain village with no close relative in Pyongyang, other medical workers of the hospital often visited her sickroom bringing delicious foods with them.

Thanks to such sincerity, she completely recovered from her illness twenty-odd days after hospitalization.

On the day of leaving the hospital, she repeatedly thanked the medical workers, saying that as there is a saying that cure is brought about by both medicine and sincerity, she could soon recover from her disease thanks to the sincerity of the medical workers who had taken care of her as they would do their own flesh and blood.
