General Secretary Kim Jong Un’s Revolutionary Activities

The Third Conference of Company Commanders of the Korean People’s Army was held in the capital city of Pyongyang on October 22 and 23 at a time when the core, vanguard role of our legendary army is being remarkably highlighted in the gigantic transformation struggle for reliably defending the inviolable sovereignty of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, our glorious motherland, and the honour of the Korean people and for ushering in a new era of rejuvenation and prosperity.

The conference, the first gathering of the entire army after the historic Ninth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea, is of great practical significance in redoubling the powerful driving force for building a strong army in the new era by rallying all the company commanders of the entire army to the struggle to turn all the companies into elite combat ranks defending unto death the Party’s ideology and cause and into all-mission units capable of fulfilling any combat tasks independently while consistently regarding it as the starting point and main link in the whole chain of strengthening the entire army to build up each company, the main combat unit of the People’s Army and a base for living of the service personnel.

The conference comprehensively analyzed and reviewed the successes and experiences gained in recent years in the struggle for implementing the line of building a strong army based on giving priority to the companies and strengthening them, and discussed the tasks and practical ways for turning the companies of the whole army into elite combat groups capable of surely guaranteeing the victory in the revolutionary war in military and technical aspects by bringing about a substantial and fundamental improvement in their actual war capability on the basis of the goal of strengthening them set forth by the Party at present.

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, guided the conference.

Major commanding officers of the Ministry of National Defence and military and political commanding officers of the large combined units of the KPA courteously greeted Supreme Commander Kim Jong Un of the armed forces of the Republic.

When Comrade Kim Jong Un appeared on the platform, all the participants in the conference raised stormy cheers of emotion as a token of their highest tribute to the ever-victorious, iron-willed brilliant commander who is ushering in the greatest heyday in strengthening the revolutionary armed forces with his original ideas on army building and outstanding art of command.

Present there were company commanders and commanding officers of military and political organs at all levels of the armed forces of the Republic.

The platform was taken by Pak Jong Chon, vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission of the WPK, Kim Song Gi, minister of National Defence of the DPRK, Yu Kwang U, first deputy director of the General Political Bureau of the KPA, Ri Yong Gil, chief of the General Staff of the KPA, military and political commanding officers of all services and large combined units of the KPA and company commanders exemplary in implementing the Party’s military line.

The national anthem of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea was played solemnly.

Comrade Kim Jong Un made an important speech “The Building of a Strong Army in the New Era and the Tasks of Company Commanders”.

Expressing his pleasure to see the company commanders, young core members of our armed forces and the commanding officers of the main combat units at the conference which will leave a clear mark in the historic course of the cause of building a powerful army in the new era, he extended his deep thanks to the company commanders of the whole army, who are playing the role of cornerstones in ensuring the mightiness of the revolutionary armed forces and the prosperity of the DPRK at the basic units of our army.

Saying that recorded in the history of our army’s struggle are precious traces of the company commanders’ responsible and devoted service, he stated that it is a source of the strength of our army and the dignity and pride of our Party and state to have such commanding officers of the combat units who remain faithful to their duty with a deep awareness and staunch efforts, regarding their lives devoted to their motherland and comrades-in-arms as the highest honour. And he extended militant encouragement to the officers and soldiers of the companies of the whole army who are spending the days of their honourable service to reliably defend the theatres of the struggle for defending the national sovereignty and for socialist construction.

He clarified the intention of the Party Central Committee, which set it as the prerequisite task and realistic goal to be achieved in the new long-term plan period to train the strongest armed forces in the world, to have convened the conference of company commanders of the whole army as the first one in the military field after the Ninth Congress of the WPK.

The main link the Party Central Committee consistently advocates and directs efforts to in the whole chain of strengthening the army is just the company, and the company is in the most important position for the unprecedentedly great cause of army building that we are committed to, he said, stressing that the line of building the strong army based on attaching importance to the companies and strengthening them is the best option for improving the appearance of the whole army at the earliest possible time.

The general orientation for strengthening the companies is to improve their combat capability and appearance in conformity with the prestige and might of the elite revolutionary armed forces, he said, affirming that the might of our army would be boosted incomparably when all the companies of the entire army become immaculate in the ideological and spiritual aspects, turn into a strong elite unit in the military and technical aspects and are consolidated into perfect combat forces flawless in their features as a regular armed force.

Noting that the company, the main combat unit of the People’s Army, should naturally embody the mightiness and dignity of our armed forces and the prestige of the powerful army should be displayed in the appearance of the company, he expressed the steadfast will of the Party Central Committee to pave a shortcut to training the powerful army in the new era by placing its trust in the company commanders of the whole army.

He referred to the importance of the role the company commanders should play in the struggle for turning the whole army into elite armed forces simultaneously at an early date as planned by the Party and as demanded by the Korean revolution.

Saying that the current conference should serve as an occasion for bringing about a new change with a more clear understanding and increased awareness of the position of the company in building a powerful army in the new era, he set forth the militant tasks and ways to be held fast to as a key in strengthening the company, the cell in building a strong army.

He clarified the main goal in the bolstering up of the combat capability of the company that the Party is planning to push full steam ahead with the current conference as the starting point, and its epoch-making significance in implementing the Party’s military strategic policy.

He stressed the need for the company commanders, who always share the life with the soldiers without the slightest formality, to become elder brothers and sisters and true comrades-in-arms of the company soldiers before being their commanders and show their warm sincerity and devotion to turning their companies into a dear home of soldiers while always reading and keeping in mind the trust and request of the people who have entrusted their sons and daughters to them.

He indicated the principled tasks of the company commanders, the commanding officers of a new generation who should firmly carry forward the true nature of our army as the army of the Party and the army of ideology and core elements who should lead in person the soldiers to victory in the battlefields, in fully making their companies ideologically elite and steadily improving the company management and service personnel’s living under strong military discipline.

Saying that the key to successfully carrying out the important tasks for strengthening the companies is for the company commanders to fully prepare themselves in ideology, morality and practical ability and fulfill the role of organizers and commanders assigned to them, he mentioned the political, ideological and military qualifications and abilities that should be possessed by the company commanders of the armed forces of the Republic holding up the banner of building a powerful army as decided by the Party Central Committee.

He clarified that the main spirit of the Third Conference of Company Commanders of the Korean People’s Army is to build the strongest army and accelerate our-style military revolution by training the strongest companies.

Saying that if all the companies of the entire army are prepared to be the strongest, the war posture of our armed forces will become perfect and the goal of building a powerful army in the new era will be attained, he expressed his belief that the company commanders of the whole army would fully realize their mission in building a powerful army, play a responsible role and thus attain the new goal of strengthening the company without fail.

All the participants raised stormy cheers of “Hurrah!” in reflection of their highest respect to the greatest brilliant commander who declared an immortal programme for the eternal mightiness and invincibility of our revolutionary armed forces.

They hardened their solemn will to fully demonstrate the honour and absolute might of our armed forces guaranteeing the victorious advance of the country and the revolution, holding fast to the militant banner of strengthening the company and bolstering up the military muscle provided by Comrade Kim Jong Un.

Kim Song Gi, minister of National Defence, made a report at the conference.

The reporter said that the past seven years since the Fifth Conference of Company Commanders and Political Instructors of the Korean People’s Army are a proud chronicle, in which the mightiness and bravery of our revolutionary armed forces no army in the world can match had been fully demonstrated and rapid progress made in the struggle for strengthening the companies of the whole army into elite combat groups according to the outstanding ideology of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un and under his leadership.

Thanks to the wise leadership of Comrade Kim Jong Un, who advanced scientific lines and policies for turning our revolutionary armed forces into the elite and powerful ones and made the entire army seethe with enthusiasm for arming itself with the revolutionary ideology and cultivating spiritual strength, the companies of the whole army were imbued with the indomitable spirit and brave stamina peculiar to our revolutionary armed forces strong and invincible with ideology, he noted.

The absolute trust of Comrade Kim Jong Un, who put forward the People’s Army as the hard core and engine promoting the overall development of socialism, has constituted the basic key that enabled our service personnel to continuously write fresh pages of proud creation and feats in the vanguard of the worthwhile construction struggle for realizing the long-cherished desire of the Party and the people, he stressed.

The reporter referred to the valuable successes made in bolstering up the political and military might of the companies thanks to the high revolutionary enthusiasm and devoted efforts of the company commanders of the entire army who have faithfully upheld Comrade Kim Jong Un’s idea of attaching importance to the companies and strengthening them.

He said that the companies have become fortresses for defending death-defyingly the Party Central Committee as the service personnel of the KPA are possessed of ideological and moral qualities which are characteristic of the noble outlook on life with which they find the highest pride and glory in carrying out the Party’s order, regarding the implementation of the Party’s order as their foremost duty and honour, and of the pure patriotic loyalty with which they offer their lives for the country without seeking any reward.

He said: The company commanders have fully demonstrated their companies’ combat capabilities in the struggle for defending the security of the country and the people and registered remarkable successes by concentrating on carrying out the Party’s policy of bringing about a revolution in training, regarding it as the most important mission of our revolutionary armed forces and their primary revolutionary duty to frustrate all challenges threatening the sovereignty and security of the Republic and reliably secure peace and development militarily.

He referred to the fact that the companies worked world-startling miracles in the theatres of grand construction for realizing the long-cherished desire of our Party and the ideals of the people while responding to the great trust of the Party Central Committee, which calls the People’s Army before all others whenever the revolution faced difficulties and uphill tasks confronted on its road with vigorous advance of loyalty and feats.

The report also analyzed and reviewed the problems to be overcome in strengthening the companies.

The reporter said that whether all the companies of the People’s Army are strengthened into elite combat groups or not depends mainly on the awareness, strenuous exertion and activities of the company commanders in direct charge of the strengthening of companies. He called for striving to bolster up the combat capabilities of the companies by supporting the ideas and leadership of Comrade Kim Jong Un with loyalty with a deep sense of mission of being responsible for the main combat units of the ever-victorious heroic army which is demonstrating the greatest might in the world under the leadership of the great brilliant commander.

The report was followed by a video show dealing with the noble ideological and spiritual world and great combat command capabilities of the company commanders who implemented the combat orders given by the Party at the cost of their lives.

The videos introduced the fresh experiences the commanding officers of the companies created in the practical struggle for implementing the Party’s idea and policy of attaching importance to the companies.

They showed the experiences the excellent company commanders gained in the course of intensifying training simulating real battles by regarding the training as the primary revolutionary task which should not be missed under any conditions and circumstances, as required by the reality that urges our army to bring about qualitative changes. They touched the heartstrings of the participants with extraordinary power of influence and infiltration.

While watching the videos, the participants in the conference learned the methods and excellent experiences of turning the companies into invincible elite forces ready to carry out their missions promptly and accurately under any adverse combat situations by concentrating all efforts on strengthening the combat capability of the companies. They also renewed their awareness that they should prove their patriotism and loyalty to the Party and the state by rounding off the combat preparations of their companies before achieving any other success.

The venue of the conference was full of extraordinary determination and militant enthusiasm of the passionate commanding officers of a new generation to fight on courageously at the outposts of national defence and creation for great Comrade Kim Jong Un, for the brilliant victory of the great cause of building a rich country with a strong army and for peace and happiness of our people.

The conference was followed by a ceremony of awarding Party and state commendations to exemplary company commanders who performed distinguished feats in strengthening their companies.

Yu Kwang U, first deputy director of the General Political Bureau of the Korean People’s Army, read out a decree of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK.

Citations of the General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea were awarded to Choe Kon, Yun Myong Nam and An Ok Gyong.

The Order of the National Flag First Class went to five others, the Order of the National Flag Second Class to 17, the Order of the National Flag Third Class to 50 and the Distinguished Military Service Medal to 172.

The venue of the awards ceremony was filled with the boundless gratitude and pledge of loyalty to Comrade Kim Jong Un who values the devoted efforts of ordinary company commanders in charge of the basic units of our army and puts them on the high platform of honour.

The conference marked a significant occasion for providing a dramatic turning point in the struggle to further consolidate all the companies of the entire army into perfect combat groups which are elite in ideological, spiritual, military and technical aspects, the cornerstones supporting the mightiness of our revolutionary armed forces and the rejuvenation and prosperity of the state.
