To achieve prosperity is a demand common to all countries and nations, and each country and people have their own unique mode of development.

But there can never be a path to prosperity that suits all countries and nations.

The Korean people have cleared the path to national prosperity, regarding self-reliance as the driving force behind their advance and development and doing everything by their own efforts and in their own way.

They proved the truth of self-reliance through the severe struggle which lasted for a full century.

The first-generation revolutionaries of Korea achieved the historic cause of national liberation by fighting a war against Japanese imperialism, making bombs with their bare hands by giving full play to the spirit of self-reliance.

The victory of the young DPRK in the grim Fatherland Liberation War was a miracle that the Korean people, who value their self-respect more than their lives, performed in the war against the imperialists who tried to enslave the whole world and reactionary forces who staked their fate on dependence on foreign forces.

The Korean people also won victory in the decades-long showdown with the hostile forces.

They resolutely rejected and frustrated the pressure and intervention of the imperialists and dominationists and firmly defended their ideology and system in the hard time when the hostile forces intensified their anti-socialist and anti-DPRK smear campaign.

The spirit of self-reliance empowered the DPRK and its people to attain the goals they set in any era and generation without fail no matter how enormous and ambitious they were.

The Korean people are now dynamically advancing along the road of self-reliance.

They put an end to the long history when outside forces threatened and blackmailed them, and created the reality in which the tremendous self-defence capabilities of the country not only fully guarantee its existence and development but also make a positive contribution to defending justice and peace in the world. And they vigorously develop various fields of the country at the same time, transforming the capital, provinces, towns and villages simultaneously and building the bases of civilization they had never imagined in the past across the country.

In his policy speech at the First Session of the 15th Supreme People's Assembly, respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said that the past decade clearly showed that no objective conditions and circumstances can ever check the advance of a state and people that are out in the struggle to shape their future, rallied as one with a firm faith, and that the most correct road to prosperity is to achieve self-reliance and self-sufficiency.

It is the firm faith of the Korean people to advance more courageously with the principle and method of solving problems by strictly relying on self-reliance and with self-confidence, not dependence, though the conditions and environment are still difficult.
