In his letter published on the occasion of World Food Day on October 16, the Pakistani Prime Minister stressed the government’s stand to push ahead with the modernization of agriculture.

At present, climate change, water shortage, the rise in production costs and demolition of the food supply chains pose a challenge to ensuring food security, he said, adding that therefore it is significant to modernize the agricultural sector by dint of science and technology in order to increase domestic agricultural productivity and solve the food problem.

The government is channelling efforts into seed improvement, the development of digitalized farming technologies, mechanization of agriculture and introduction of an effective irrigation system, he noted.
