A spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry denounced at a press conference on October 12 the Taiwanese chief executive for continuing to let loose ridiculous sophism in an attempt to achieve “independence” with the backing of outside forces.

The spokesman stated that it is the aspiration of the international community and the desire of everyone to uphold the One China principle, oppose “Taiwan independence” and support China’s unification.

The trend towards ultimate and inevitable unification of China can never be stemmed whatever the Taiwanese ruler says or does, he noted.
