Yonthan County of North Hwanghae Province has gathered a large quantity of black chokeberries this year, too.

The county is noted for black chokeberry as it is widely cultivated not only at industrial establishments and farms, but also at schools and families.

A variety of health foods can be made with the fruit as it contains sugar, organic acids, various vitamins, essential nutrients and a large amount of mineral substances.

The county built black chokeberry nurseries and cultivated the plant effectively to grow healthy saplings with an eye to increasing its leverage for economic growth by developing and producing its specialities that can represent the area while preserving its features.

In addition, it increased black chokeberry forests for raw materials through the mass movement for acquiring new land and increasing the area under cultivation on the basis of good management of the black chokeberry forests that have been built for decades with much effort and detailed surveys of the county's area of land and distribution of forests.

Yonthan County Resource Mobilization Company has channelled big efforts into increasing and managing soil fertility in accordance with the nutritional requirements of the plant according to its growing periods, thereby growing promising crops.

The county’s black chokeberry output of this year has increased 1.5 times more than last year, thanks to the active efforts of its officials and working people who have devoted themselves to creating a civilized and happy new life by their own efforts.

The Yonthan County Foodstuff Factory is increasing the variety of health drinks, fermented products and confectionery in great demand among the people by developing the methods of processing black chokeberries.
