Kim Il Sung Prize conferred on composer

Kim Il Sung Prize was conferred on Sol Thae Song, head of a creation department of the State Merited Chorus, who composed the famous song of the times, "Song about the Motherland", which is very popular among all the people of the DPRK.

Sol Thae Song, who grew up to be a well-known composer and creative worker under the care of the Workers' Party of Korea, created many famous songs, including "Ode to the Motherland", "We Love Our Country" and "Song Dedicated to the Motherly Party", to greatly encourage the patriotic struggle of the Korean people and contribute to enriching the treasure house of the Juche-oriented musical art.

In particular, "Song about the Motherland" is a masterpiece of national treasure value as it impressively represents the great pride in the great country and all-people thoughts and feelings to always love and glorify the dignified DPRK with all their soul.

A ceremony was held on October 9 to award Kim Il Sung Prize to People's Artist Sol Thae Song.

Present there were Ju Chang Il, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kim Hyong Sik, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly, and officials and creative and performing artistes of the State Merited Chorus.

After the decree of the SPA Standing Committee of the DPRK was read out, Kim Il Sung Prize was awarded to Sol Thae Song.

Resolution-making speeches were made at the ceremony.
