'We cannot live without him'
October 9, 2026In my sunny house with spacious rooms, I often recall the vivid memories of the day when I received the licence for the use of the house and shouted “Long live the Workers' Party!” at the top of my voice.
Respected General Secretary
My home village underwent a complete change in a matter of some months after his visit.
After receiving the house licence and key, I entered the new house to find every room filled with all necessary things such as TV, furniture and daily necessities.
All my family was moved to tears at the sight of the sacks full of white rice and the jars filled with winter kimchi.
We can never forget all our lives the benevolence of the General Secretary who provided us with such a large house.

Still, I frequently look at the nameplate on the door of my house for a long time.
It is because the country provided a large house even to me who had committed a crime against it.
In December two years ago when new fairyland villages were taking shape and the day of moving into new houses was coming nearer, I never imagined that such a palatial house would be provided to me who had been punished by law for the crime. So I stood at the rear, hanging my head in shame, in the venue of the ceremony for moving into new houses.
But the country allotted wonderful houses to such people like me, who had committed crimes in the past, without discrimination.
In fact, I had been so grateful to the country for providing my son, who had been unable to raise his head and lost even smile because of his guilty father, with new school uniforms and school things just like other children. Upon receiving the licence for the use of a new house, I felt like I was dreaming and finally burst out sobbing.
I shouted to myself that day, “We cannot live even a moment without Marshal
