Chinese deputy permanent representative to UN rejects Japan's demand
October 4, 2026The Chinese deputy permanent representative to the United Nations rejected Japan's unreasonable demand at the UN General Assembly meeting on September 28.
Referring to the fact that Japan demanded the deletion of the paragraph about enemy state stipulated in the UN Charter, he said that China is resolutely opposed to Japan's behaviour.
Although it joined the UN on the premise that it admits the crimes committed by its militarism and accepts all the contents of the UN Charter, Japan is beautifying and justifying its past crimes by employing every possible means, far from reflecting on them, and trying to cover up its incessant attempt to bolster up its military capabilities while continuously inventing such lies as "threats from neighbouring countries", he said.
The enemy state-related paragraph of the UN Charter, an important institutional measure, is aimed at preventing fascism and militarism from posing a threat to global peace and security again and it is of practical significance even at present, he asserted.
China strongly demands Japan seriously accept the lesson of history and stop at once its dangerous moves toward remilitarization, he stressed.
