The agricultural workers all across the country work hard on farm fields to enter the ranks of top farms.

The country awards the certificates of the top prize to the cities, counties and farms leading others in all aspects including the introduction of advanced farming methods and techniques, the informatization of agriculture, the construction of irrigation works and the increase of the rate of mechanization.

Officials and agricultural workers of the farms regard it as patriotic work to enter the ranks of top farms.

Amid the dynamic nationwide efforts to increase grain production also in this year, the first year of implementing the decisions of the Ninth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea, the farms in the eastern part of the country are displaying an unprecedentedly great enthusiasm to join the ranks of top farms.

They are getting into the habit of doing all farm work in a scientific way.

Officials of the Ryulsong Farm of Jongphyong County and the Ryongsan Farm of Tanchon City in South Hamgyong Province, the Namchang Farm of Munchon City in Kangwon Province and the Phyongryuk Farm of Kilju County and the Kangan Farm of Onsong County in North Hamgyong Province have fulfilled their role as standard-bearers in scientific farming while analysing the past farming work and making studies to find out what they should innovate.

The Saphyong Farm of Anbyon County in Kangwon Province has put manuring and cultivation on a higher scientific basis in keeping with an increase in the area to which advanced methods of cultivating rice seedlings have been introduced, thereby providing a guarantee for high yield. Its farmers have tried hard to bring about a radical change in grain production while exchanging and sharing good experience and advanced farming methods.

The Kwansu Farm of Yonggwang County in South Hamgyong Province has positively introduced fish and mud snail farming in paddy fields, thereby boosting the growth of rice while saving a great deal of manpower and fertilizer.

The Samhyang Farm of Orang County in North Hamgyong Province and the Chusang Farm of Hamju County in South Hamgyong Province have carefully managed the nutrition of crops against the lingering unfavourable weather to reap a good crop.
