Pak Thae Song, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and premier of the DPRK Cabinet, inspected various sectors of the national economy.

The premier visited the Unnyul and Jaeryong mines, the iron ore production bases in the western part of the country, and acquainted himself in detail with the deposits of ore and the state of mining and readjustment and reinforcement of production systems in the mining areas, stressing the importance of the missions assumed by the mines in attaining the iron production goal set forth by the Party.

He stressed the need for the mines to increase the production of iron ore concentrates by giving precedence to the removal of overburden, taking measures for draining water and introducing efficient mining methods as required by the Party's policy and push ahead with the work to examine and confirm the deposits of ore bodies in detail in a far-sighted way.

Making the rounds of the Kumsan Farm in Unnyul County, the township farm and the Samjigang Farm in Jaeryong County and other agricultural production units, he noted that they should increase the proportion of mechanized farming to finish rice harvest and threshing and winter wheat and barley sowing in the right time and widely generalize the farming methods whose advantages have been proved in this year's farming.

Learning about the power production at the Pyongyang Thermal Power Station, he said that it should finish the overhaul of turbine generators and boilers ahead of schedule, increase the output per generator and put main efforts into operating the equipment at full capacity to steadily increase the power production.

At the Pyongyang Rubber Factory he underscored the need for the officials to further improve the production and management and put spurs to the building of new production processes by regarding the mental power of the masses and science and technology as the lifeline of the development of the unit, thus ensuring the qualitative production of various types of rubber goods necessary for various sectors of the national economy.

The field consultative meetings discussed the issue of further strengthening the relations and cooperation between the sci-tech sector and production units, the issue of improving the supply service for the employees and reducing the autoconsumption power of the power plants to a minimum and others, and took relevant measures.
