South African President Cyril Ramaphosa clarified his stand to defend the sovereignty of the country in the face of the US’ sanctions at a ceremony on September 21.

Rejecting the recent US’ announcement of visa restrictions on “officials involved in racial discrimination” in South Africa, he stressed that he would counter such challenges on the principle of defending the dignity and sovereignty of the country.

The South African government is accusing the US of worsening the bilateral relations by misinterpreting its policies.
