A spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry at a press conference on September 23 rejected a shameless argument of the Japanese prime minister.

The Japanese prime minister at the UN General Assembly meeting on September 22 said that Japan, a "pacifist state", contributed to the peace and prosperity of the international community by adhering to the "exclusive defense" policy, clamouring for the deletion of the article on enemy state from the UN Charter.

In this regard, the spokesman said that postwar Japan’s idea of "pacifist state" was established on the basis of seriously reflecting on history and thoroughly parting from militarism.

But in fact, the present Japanese government is not only denying the country’s history of aggression and beautifying its war crimes but also putting spurs to its rearmament and openly challenging the postwar international order by discarding the "three non-nuclear principles", thus having already become a key factor threatening regional peace and stability, he noted.

The article on enemy state of the UN Charter has provided an important institutional guarantee for defending the postwar international order and is still of practical significance as it is aimed at preventing fascism and militarism from posing a threat again to international peace and security, he stated.
