A spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry criticized Japan for deploying intermediate-range missiles at a press conference on September 21.

As to the fact that the Japanese authorities have shipped an intermediate-range missile system into Kyushu, the spokesman said that it is another proof showing that Japan is putting spurs to its remilitarization.

Such an act increases the danger of military confrontation and arms race, threatens the strategic balance and stability in the region and infringes upon the security interests of neighbouring countries, he said, adding that the international community stays highly alert to it and the peoples of different countries in Asia are voicing their opposition.

China demands that Japan seriously reflect on its history of aggression, take the voices of regional countries seriously and stop pushing ahead with any plan for its remilitarization, he stressed.
