It pays due attention to providing the tourists with excellent convenience by raising the level of tourist service. It has established a comprehensive evaluation system for tourist service units and improved the educational system and methods for training tourism experts.

It also makes effective use of the coastal tourism resources and develops mountain tourism into a highly promising industry in conformity with the natural and geographical conditions of the country which has many beautiful seaside scenic spots as it is bounded by the sea on its eastern and western sides and has many famous mountains like Mts Paektu, Kumgang and Myohyang as mountains account for most of its territory.

In recent years, many modern tourist facilities have been built, including the Samjiyon Mountain Tourist Resort, the Wonsan Kalma Coastal Tourist Area and the Yangdok Hot Spring Resort, giving great impetus to the improvement of the people's cultural and emotional life and development of the country's tourism.

With tourism being widely encouraged, tourist areas, scenic spots and recreation grounds offer various forms of tourist service, including sea-bathing, ski and hot spring, as well as the visits to monumental structures and historical sites.

In addition, major tourist areas organize various exhibitions, shows, art performances, film shows and sports games to ensure their all-season operation and actively introduce tourism.

Meanwhile, legal and administrative measures have been employed more widely to protect the tourism resources and ecological environment and revitalize tourism, and national attention is directed to introducing digital technology and artificial intelligence into the tourism sector in keeping with the world trend of the development of tourism.
