The 20th National Machine Design Festival opened with due ceremony at the Sci-Tech Complex in Pyongyang on September 23.

The festival was held on the theme of “Lay the foundation of self-reliance and self-development with our design” with an eye to sharing and widely disseminating the successes and experience gained in the machine design field.

It has brought together officials, designers, lecturers, researchers and other people from over 90 units across the country. On display are hundreds of pieces of scientific research results, products and models including machine designs and design support programs.

During the festival, there will be a presentation of machine design information technology and multi-dimensional machine design contest.

Present at the opening ceremony were Vice-Premier Ri Kyong Il, Minister of Machine-building Industry Ri Kwang Nam, officials concerned and officials and working people of the exhibiting units.

The Vice-Premier delivered an opening address.

At the end of the ceremony the participants looked round the venue of the festival.
