Natural monument—Chonju Falls in Puyon-ri
September 25, 2026Chonju Falls in Puyon-ri are located in a deep valley 14 km away from Puyon-ri in Sinhung County, South Hamgyong Province.
The falls flow along the cliff consisting of two steps of granite. They first cascade along the cliff 17 metres high and 10 metres wide with an incline of 80 degrees and then along the one with a gradient of 70 degrees.
The waterfall is 60 metres high and two metres wide in the dry season and ten metres in the rainy season.
It is surrounded with woods of oaks, maple trees and mono maple trees.
It is spectacular and goes well with the surrounding plants, adding beauty to the scenery.
