A spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry denounced Japan for distorting its history of aggression at a press conference on September 18.

The September 18 Incident was a war plot concealed by the Japanese authorities for a long time, and the majority of the Japanese people came to know the truth only after the Tokyo trials were held, he said.

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the start of the Tokyo trials, he said, adding that what arouses concern from people is that the tendency to deny the historical truth is constantly encouraged and prevalent in Japan.

The aggressive nature of Japan is now still being diluted in its textbooks and the Japanese right-wing forces are systematically "filtering" the documents related to the war of aggression and the records of the Tokyo trials in an attempt to shift the liability for the war crime onto others and fix the wrong outlook on history, he noted.

Denying the crimes of aggression means challenging the historical conclusion and destroying the postwar international order, he said, strongly urging Japan to see the history squarely and seriously reflect on its past.
