The exhibition in the field of intellectual property-2026 took place at the Sci-Tech Complex in Pyongyang from September 10 to 17.

“The exhibition marked a significant occasion in further revving up the atmosphere of creation and circulation of new intellectual property,” said Ri Hyang Sun, a staffer of the National Intellectual Property Administration.

The exhibition held on the theme of “IP and the development of units” was aimed at generalizing the successes and experience of the units which contributed to economic construction, the improvement of the people's living standards and the development of science and culture through the active use of intellectual property, so that the IP work can make a substantial contribution to the overall development of socialism.

The exhibition brought together over 370 units including Kim Il Sung University, the Paper Engineering Institute of the State Academy of Sciences, the Sangwon Cement Complex and the Hamhung Disabled Soldiers' Essential Plastic Goods Factory. Presented to it were more than 1 600 inventions, patents, trademarks, industrial designs and copyrights highly appreciated at regional IP exhibitions.

Unlike the previous exhibitions which focused on individual proposals, the recent event concentrated on the units which made progress by actively applying IP.

The exhibition mainly put on display actual things and printed matters as well in order to enable visitors to know well that the application of IP results in economic profits.

A large number of people visited the booth of Kim Il Sung University showing the achievements made in the IP work in the past five years.

The university prioritized the sharing of scientific research achievements and the application of them to reality in the efforts to develop units based on IP.

A technology of producing grease-proof sealing packing with nano-composite materials, newly established by the researchers of the university, ensures the domestic production of advanced sealing products based on nano-composite materials and thereby contributes to strengthening the independence of the national economy, putting production on a normal basis and improving the quality of products. It has been introduced into dozens of factories and enterprises including the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex, the Ryongsong Machine Complex and the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex, bringing great benefits to the industrial establishments.

And the university’s plant growth regulator “Chongchun(youth)” helps increase the yields of crops including grains, vegetables and fruits, the survival rate of trees and the productivity of flowering plants and is also used in creating landscapes. The university also established an original phosphorite fertilizer production technology.

A medicinal stone presented by a pharmaceutical company drew special interest of visitors. The product made with various natural stones with medicinal effects improves blood circulation and brings to normal the pathologically raised skin surface charge, thus promoting the regeneration of nerves and tissue. And it is also effective in the treatment of the heart diseases and hypertension which recur in spite of the use of modern medicines.

The exhibits also included the proposals of high practical value such as a method of ensuring infrared remote control by smartphone and an integrated marine forecast system.

In the exhibition experiences were presented by several units including an IT development unit which has kept a high position in the domestic IT products sales rankings while annually bringing great profits to the country by effectively applying its single piece of intellectual property.
