Pak Thae Song, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and premier of the Cabinet of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, made a field survey of various sectors.

The premier visited the Tukjang Youth Coal Mine of the Tukjang Area Coal-mining Complex and the Jenam Coal Mine of the Tokchon Area Coal-mining Complex and encouraged their employees who are putting spurs to the coal production, true to the intention of the Party to successfully conclude this year's struggle and pave a broad avenue for attaining the new long-term goals.

He called for continuously securing new coal fields by giving priority to prospecting and tunnelling, enhancing the mining and transport capacity and boosting the coal miners' spiritual power and creativity to decisively increase coal production and thus repay the deep trust and expectations of the Party with increased production.

Making the rounds of various production sites of the Pukchang Thermal Power Complex, he stressed the need to reduce the coal consumption by directing efforts to the management of equipment and technical control while increasing the power output of generators and pay close attention to the protection of the ecological environment including the introduction of advanced dust collection methods.

After acquainting himself with the progress of the construction project for establishing the C1 chemical industry, he noted that the ranks of highly skilled workers should be reinforced and the responsibility and role of the scientists and technicians enhanced to finish the construction of new processes planned for this year in a qualitative way.

At the Farm Machine Institute of the Agricultural Commission, the premier learned in detail about the development of pumps using natural energy and called for studying and introducing much more modern and efficient farm machines suited to the country's natural and geographical features and actual conditions.

Field consultative meetings dealt with an issue for the Cabinet, the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry and other ministries and national agencies to produce and supply in time the equipment, materials and parts necessary for the normal production at coal mines and thermal power plants and the construction project for the establishment of the C1 chemical industry, an issue for the officials to pay deep attention to the health of scientists, researchers and workers and the provision of proper conditions for their work and life and others.

Earlier, the premier visited the Ryonggang Stone Processing Factory to learn about its production and discussed the issue of supplying more building stones to major construction projects.
