China denounces Japan’s neo-militarist moves

September 9, 2026

A spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry condemned Japan for its reckless moves toward neo-militarism at a press conference on September 3.

The military budget for the 2027 fiscal year recently requested by the Defense Ministry of Japan exceeded an all-time high again.

Answering a question as to this, the spokesman said that Japan should fulfil its international obligations, thoroughly eradicate the poisonous aftereffects of militarism and maintain peaceful development.

China, together with other peace-loving countries of the world, will resolutely deter Japan's neo-militarism from prevailing under a veil of “normalization of the state” to bring disaster to the region and inflict harm on the rest of the world, he stressed.
