High-level meeting held in celebration of NAM anniversary
September 5, 2026A high-level meeting was held in Belgrade, Serbia, on September 1 to mark the 65th anniversary of the founding of the Non-Aligned Movement.
It was attended by dozens of delegations from many countries and regions.
The Serbian President, in the opening speech, expressed his stand supporting multilateralism, sovereign equality and respect for international law, noting that the NAM has become an important force for multilateralism.
Emphasizing the need for the developing countries to continue to strengthen independent and balanced international cooperation, the participants called for positively developing South-South cooperation to cope with the challenges including terrorism and climate change.
The Non-Aligned Movement was founded in September 1961 under the banner of independence against imperialism.
