Revolution in education requires radical improvement in teachers’ qualifications
September 5, 2026A dynamic campaign is being waged in the DPRK to bring about a radical improvement in education in the new century.
A radical improvement in education is, in essence, a radical improvement in teachers’ qualifications.
The quality of the younger generation depends on how the ranks of teachers are built and how teachers perform their missions.
Even though there is a good educational system and excellent educational bases have been provided and the educational curricula worked out at a high level, no success can be expected in the development of education when teachers in direct charge of education do not have appropriate educational and practical qualifications and there are not enough teachers.
Stressing the need to improve the qualifications, abilities and specialization of teachers in his speech at the 13th Session of the 14th Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK, respected
Projects have been pushed ahead to radically improve the qualifications of teachers true to the intention of the Workers’ Party of Korea which set it as a core policy task for the comprehensive development of socialism and a goal to be attained without fail to rapidly develop the country’s education onto the level of advanced countries.
Due attention is being paid to the endeavours to narrow the gap in the level of education between Pyongyang and the provinces and between urban and rural areas.
Many excellent teachers in Pyongyang and other cities are sent to schools in the provinces and rural areas to transfer their advanced teaching materials and methods and central-level educational units with strong scientific and educational forces and rich educational resources intensify scientific guidance, technical and practical guidance and assistance to local universities and rural schools.
Meanwhile, universities and colleges in the field of teacher training across the country strive to train reserve teachers in a qualitative way by decisively raising their level of education while giving in-service training to steadily improve the qualifications of teachers.
It is the invariable will of the WPK to turn the DPRK into a country advanced in education, a country that prospers by dint of education.
