Russian deputy refers to use of nukes
September 3, 2026Leonid Slutsky, chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the State Duma of Russia, referred to the issue of use of nuclear weapons at an interview with an American journalist on August 29.
He said: Russia might have won already, if it had used nuclear weapons. But it has always adhered to sound thinking and the principle of minimizing the loss of lives of peaceful residents.
Saying that Russia is far away from being a user of nukes, he emphasized that if the West gives Ukraine tactical nukes so that it can use them against Russia, it would take immediate symmetrical measures.
