Russian President Vladimir Putin at a news conference on August 22 stressed the stand to strongly respond to the terrorist acts of Ukraine.

The attempts made by the Kiev authorities and Western supporters to inflict a "strategic defeat" on Russia by using missiles and drones in the past 40 days were an adventurous speculation, he said, noting that they are trying to break down Russia by destroying the economy and shattering the people’s unity.

He said the Kiev authorities took the road of escalating the situation as they failed to make an objective analysis of the situation in the battlefields, economic situation in Ukraine, and actual conditions of society and the state being contaminated by irregularities and corruption. Russia expanded the strike on the munitions factories in Ukraine to cope with such adventurous acts, he stated.

Ukraine has faced the consequences contrary to the aim they had set at the time when they began the strike on Russian civilian targets, he said, adding that the Kiev authorities have opened the Pandora’s box by themselves.

Russia will respond to any attack on targets in its territory without fail, he noted.
