The University Student Scientific Search Prize is an award which is given to model students for having contributed to the country with achievements in scientific exploration by working hard and acquiring wide knowledge during their university years.

The prize was instituted in February 1990 and is awarded every year to commemorate March 18, the day when Chairman Kim Jong Il published the immortal classic work “The Status and Role of the County in Socialist Construction” as a university graduation thesis when he attended Kim Il Sung University in the 1960s.

At that time his graduation paper caused a stir for its great significance in practice of socialist economic construction as well as in the academic circles.

At present, the prize is conferred on university students who published valuable scientific papers in the academic circles and socialist construction or obtained patents and those who won top honours during the whole university years.

For every university student, it is a great honour and pride to win the prize.

Therefore, a great deal of energies are being put in to win the prize among university students and in the course of this, many of them become the prize winners and sometimes all the classmates obtain the prize to become prizewinner classes.
