Samgwang Technical Senior Middle School in Unjon County is situated at the Samgwang Livestock Farm of the North Phyongan Provincial Rural Economy Committee, which has been built as a new model of socialist rural construction and the development of livestock farming.

With a total building area of several thousand square metres, the school has a three-storeyed building, a gymnasium covering some 1 400 square metres and an outdoor swimming pool.

According to its principal, classrooms, laboratories and practical training rooms fully provided with educational equipment and school fixtures are now put on an IT and modern basis at a high level to properly implement the curriculum reflected in the new educational programme.

Visual aids hanging along the corridors, an outdoor study site, models displayed in the hall of the first floor to help students have a good understanding of the production processes of dairy products and all other spaces of the school provide a good educational environment for them. 

Especially, the room for the livestock farming group, which was built to suit the regional features with a livestock farm, helps students acquire profound and practical knowledge necessary for rearing cows and goats through practical training in a virtual environment.

In the music and dance group room provided with all conditions for developing talents as well as various kinds of musical instruments, students make effective use of their after-school hours, learning to play musical instruments and perform dance and doing other extracurricular activities according to their aptitudes and hobbies.

“Samgwang-ri is the farthest-flung farm village of Unjon County, but now teachers can see the lessons given by the excellent teachers of the country and learn their teaching methods at the classroom through the exclusive network,” said the school principal.

The changed environment of the school encourages both the teachers and students to work and study harder.

In only a few months after the school was newly built, the number of winners of the title of October 8 Model Teacher increased, with the result that teachers are very enthusiastic about creating and introducing new teaching methods, students have become really eager to study hard and many students willingly find and do good things for the school and village.

The viewpoint and attitude of parents and farm officials have also changed.

They direct considerable attention to and show deep sincerity for the education of students and school affairs and their earnest care grows with the passage of time.
