A spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry on August 5 answered the question put by a journalist as regards the fact that the Japanese authorities issued a “defense white paper” to justify its remilitarization while finding fault with China’s military activities.

In the past, Japanese militarism brought great disasters to Asia and the rest of the world as it committed untold crimes, but Japan, rather than seriously reflecting on its history, is steadily accelerating remilitarization and challenging the postwar international order by freeing itself from legal restrictions, thus becoming an element threatening regional peace and stability, he said.

Japan’s “defense white paper” keeps inciting the development of long-range attack capacity and a new mode of operation to reveal once again that its claim as a “pacifist state” is a lie, he noted.

He asserted that the international community should remain highly alert and restrict it resolutely.
