Chinese Defense Ministry censures Japan for accelerating offensive weapons development
August 11, 2026A spokesman for the Chinese Defense Ministry criticized Japan for speeding up the development of offensive weapons on August 7.
The Japanese Maritime “Self-Defense Force” has recently test-fired “Tomahawk” cruise missiles and its defense minister clamoured that the long-range missiles would be counteroffensive means of Japan. Answering a question raised by a journalist in this regard, he said that it is a very dangerous thing that Japan’s moves towards accelerating the development of offensive weapons have grown more undisguised, arousing heightened wariness of the regional countries.
Facts show that the “security threat from the surroundings” touted by Japan is a poor excuse for freeing itself from the restrictions of the “pacifist constitution” and “exclusive defense” and stepping up remilitarization.
The real threats to Japan’s security and regional peace and stability are its reckless acts of pursuing military expansion and war preparations and accelerating remilitarization, he said, adding that nightmare should not be repeated but peace should be defended.
The international community should be united without fail to take actions in order to jointly restrain Japan lest its neo-militarism grow as a source of trouble and invite calamities to the world, he noted.
