China decries Japan’s attempt to possess nukes

August 10, 2026

A spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry on August 6 censured the Japanese authorities for their attempt to possess nukes as he answered the question raised by a journalist on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the nuclear disaster in Hiroshima of Japan.

He said that the right-wing forces of Japan are politically abusing the appellation of “nuclear explosion victim” in order to distort the historical facts and win international sympathy and are dreaming of avoiding the liability of crimes, while downplaying as much as possible the fact that Japan invaded neighbouring countries and caused loss of tens of millions of lives.

The Japanese ruling authorities are now trying to strengthen the US nuclear protection for Japan and destroy the “three non-nuclear principles”, while bolstering up its armed forces, he said, noting that high-ranking officials around the prime minister are clamouring for seeking Japan’s possession of nuclear weapons without concealing even a bit their ambition for remilitarization.

Such double-dealing is a challenge to the world peace-loving people and an insult to history and justice, he stressed.
