The Sinpho City Offshore Farm gathers more than 100 tons of kelp every day by gaining new experience in large-scale farming.

Based on the experience obtained in offshore farming last year, the farm actively introduced advanced technology and paid primary attention to raising the scientific level in the whole process from the management of farming grounds to the maintenance of ecological environment.

After securing sufficient seeds of a high-yielding kelp variety, which grows fast and is highly productive, the farm put in much effort to manure and cultivate the plant in each process in a scientific and technological way and frequently organized demonstrations so as to get all the employees to make a positive contribution to gathering a rich harvest of kelp.

Workteams developed and introduced good manuring and cultivation methods according to the seawater temperature, sunshine conditions and growth of kelp, and the employees correctly ensured the prescribed number of bunches of kelp seedlings per attachment line and carried out all other work as required by the technical regulations.

 As it actively introduced new farming techniques and methods by setting itself the goal of boosting the scientific level of offshore farming as much as possible, the farm became able to increase the per-hectare yield to a higher level.

At present, the farm is harvesting kelp in good time while raising the operation rate of ships to the maximum and managing farming facilities in a responsible manner.

The bountiful kelp harvest at the Sinpho City Offshore Farm this year is a clear demonstration of the validity and vitality of the policy of the Workers’ Party of Korea on putting the regional economy on a firm basis of development by making good use of the sea in coastal areas and mountains in mountainous areas.
