Chinese President Xi Jinping recently issued important instructions on basic education.

He stated that since the 18th Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Party Central Committee has simultaneously pushed ahead with various measures for promoting the long-term development of basic education and thus provided strong support for the building of an educational power.

He called for thoroughly carrying out the Party’s policy on education and the basic duty to train talents possessing excellent traits, improving the quality of education and teaching and building up the ranks of teachers with professional qualifications.

He stressed that the Party committees and governments at all levels should bear full political responsibility to optimize the distribution of educational resources, intensify the comprehensive reform of education and ensure that schools, families and society all direct efforts to the basic education work, thus constantly opening up a new phase of high-quality development of basic education.
