General Secretary Kim Jong Un’s Revolutionary Activities

The whole country is overflowing with joy and excitement of greeting the great holiday of war victory with the high pride of glorifying the immortal honour and dignity of heroic Korea, to which the first defenders of the Republic imposingly brought fame in an eastern part of the earth, and heroic people with new victories of great importance won by the current generation.

A ceremonial parade of the columns symbolic of the units in the Fatherland Liberation War was held in Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK, on the evening of July 27 to mark the 73rd anniversary of war victory, unfolding historic scenes demonstrating the tradition of victory which has been firmly carried forward as the bloodline of the Korean revolution and the indomitable heroic spirit which has been displayed to the full from one decade to the next and from one century to the next.

The plaza before Pyongyang Indoor Stadium and its surroundings were crowded with citizens who gathered with the great pride of annually celebrating the unprecedented legendary victory won by the less-than-two-year-old state, a new-born country, and the two-year-old army by fighting against the imperialist allied forces to defend the inviolable sovereignty and prevent the ravages of a new world war.

To the tune of the vibrant song of the revolutionary army, the columns of paraders in military uniforms like the ones the soldiers of the Korean People’s Army wore during the war, and with rifles in their hands which vividly showed the traces of hand-to-hand fight entered the plaza.

Prior to the parade, a combined military band depicted the heroic course of Juche Korea which has firmly defended and added lustre to the glory of July 27 through distinctive formation changes and light rhythmic movements.

When the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, appeared on the platform, the participants broke into stormy cheers of "Hurrah!" and gorgeous fireworks were displayed in the sky over the capital city.

Comrade Kim Jong Un warmly acknowledged the enthusiastically cheering participants.

Leading officials of the Party, government and armed forces organs and the commanders of the large combined units of the Korean People's Army took their seats on the platform together with war veterans.

Present there at invitation were diplomatic envoys of the People's Republic of China and the Russian Federation staying in the DPRK.

Seen in the auditorium were war veterans, persons of wartime merit, officials of the Party Central Committee, senior officials of ministries and national agencies, service personnel of the KPA, officials and lecturers engaged in the administration of revolutionary relics associated with the victorious war, Pyongyang citizens including descendants of war heroes, students of revolutionary schools and other youth and students.

No Kwang Chol, minister of National Defence of the DPRK, made a speech.

Saying that the celebrations of Victory Day reach the climax with tonight's ceremonial parade arranged to keep the memory of and pride in the past history and encourage the complete succession to the great tradition and the achievement of a fresh victory, the speaker noted that today's march of the columns represents the heroic advance in the flames of fierce battles during those days and vividly shows the tradition of victory running through the past annals.

The victorious wartime generation are still standing before us as exemplars of patriotic life of sharing destiny with the motherland and as excellent teachers encouraging the descendants to wage the heroic struggle and perform feats by exciting their spiritual world, he said, adding that we will forever thank and respect the great generation who won the most disastrous war to ensure the most beautiful future and made this country strong by devoting their passionate youth and all their valuable things.

The speaker noted that our army will as ever open up in the van the unprecedented era of a power with transparent faith and through the unexampled struggle, stressing that the successors will continue to march forward year after year with the indomitable heroism, displayed by the defenders of the country in the 1950s in their struggle, and the mission of the class and their grandiose advance and courageous spirit will immortalize the honour of our state.

All the paraders burst into cheers of "Hurrah!" full of militant enthusiasm for determinedly making steady strides to inherit the honour of war victory achieved at the dear cost and winning a greater victory in the van of the gigantic struggle to build a prosperous and powerful country.

Then there was a review of the preparations for the parade.

KPA Marshal Pak Jong Chon reviewed the columns of the parade units.

He courteously reported to Comrade Kim Jong Un on the completion of the preparations for the parade.

The commander of the parade gave the order to start the ceremonial parade.

The column symbolic of the bodyguard company marched at the head of the parade units, holding high the ennobling image of General Kim Il Sung, the iron-willed commander in those days over 70 years ago. It eloquently proved what the source of all victories of the great Korean revolution is and where is the irresistible might of our ever-victorious army.

And shining like a group of loyal stars in the column were the portraits of the first generation bodyguards of our army who became a bulletproof wall to defend the Supreme Headquarters in the hard-fought and fateful years with a firm faith that defence of the leader guarantees war victory, the destiny of the country and the happiness and future of the people.

The columns symbolic of the legendary guards divisions entered the plaza, flying high their glorious colours which demonstrate their military feats of annihilating the US imperialists' ill-famed "invincible divisions" and "elite divisions" in the three years of the fierce war when the KPA soldiers had to step on empty cartridges more than the soil in mountains and fields and killed more enemies with bayonets than they did with rifles.

Among them were the columns symbolic of the Kang Kon Guards 2nd Infantry Division, the Seoul Kim Chaek Guards 4th Infantry Division and other units bearing the names of brave anti-Japanese generals, fighters who rendered distinguished services in founding the army and performed indelible feats in the great history of war victory. The paraders marched, holding high portraits of the commanding officers of anti-Japanese guerrilla background who implemented the operational plans of the leader with absolute faith and distinguished military qualifications.

The audience paid high tribute to the greatest loyalists and heroes as they set the living examples of genuine loyalty to President Kim Il Sung, who led Korea to victory with his unique military ideas and strategy and tactics impossible to find in any other military theories in the world, the examples which should be regarded by all the generations of the Republic as a textbook.

The columns marched in a fine array, making the audience recollect numerous legendary feats performed in the operation for liberating Seoul, a world-startling miracle created in 72 hours, the operation for liberating Taejon, a brilliant example of a contemporary battle of encirclement, the battle for defending Height 1211, which heralded the destruction of the enemies, and others during the Fatherland Liberation War.

Fireworks of victory and celebration were displayed to wonderfully decorate the nocturnal sky of Victory Day. And the columns symbolic of the Guards 2nd Torpedo Boat Squadron and the Guards 56th Hero Kim Ji Sang Pursuit Plane Regiment marched past the plaza. They reflected the feats performed by the heroic seamen, who created the miracle of Jumunjin and the legend of Wolmi Island to be specially recorded in the world history of naval battles, and the pilots who became human bombs to shatter the air superiority of the US imperialists.

Comrade Kim Jong Un sent warm greetings of encouragement to the columns dynamically passing through the plaza, flying the guards flags associated with the heroic fighting spirit, matchless bravery and spirit of annihilating the enemy of the victorious wartime generation.

The portraits of the immortal fighters, who became human bombs to destroy the enemies' pillboxes and tanks while shouting "Long live the leader" and annihilated the invaders with the love for their native homes, parents and siblings and the hatred for the enemies as they were the generation deeply moved by benevolence shown by the leader who put them forward as masters of the country, factories and land, were seen in the columns symbolic of the guards regiments.

Among the columns were those symbolic of the Ministry of Interior and railway servicemen pulsating with the souls of sung and unsung heroes who fought for war victory on the front without gunshot or in the rear during the three-year war.

The foot columns were followed by those of combined mechanized carriages and motorcycles, symbols of the mechanized units engaged in the Fatherland Liberation War.

The barrels of rifles and guns that dealt annihilating blows to the enemy in those days reflected the feats of the victors in the great years who proved the truth that if the ideas and tactics are great, it is possible to defeat any formidable enemy even with inferior arms, by winning the most brilliant victory in the face of the most rigorous ordeals.

The plaza was full of reverence for the masters of the heroic times who made a legendary history of resistance at the cost of their warm blood, firmly cemented the foundations of the Republic with the victory they won at the cost of their lives and opened up the rosy future of the Korean revolution.

Then there appeared at the plaza the columns of the three services of the Korean People's Army, demonstrating the features of the dignified revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK which incomparably became strong.

Sky-high was the spirit of the guards of the new generation who firmly defends the inviolable territory, territorial waters and airspace of our state with absolute defence capability while steadily and invariably inheriting the tradition of loyalty, patriotism and victory created in the flames of the war and adding lustre to the history of Juche Korea wining victory after victory.

Comrade Kim Jong Un extended warm militant encouragement to the invincible elite ranks and representatives of the matchless army who newly defined the concept of the strong army and the law of victory and placed the absolute might of the revolutionary armed forces at the peak of honour with loyalty to the Party and the country, ardent patriotism, mass heroism and indomitable fighting spirit peculiar to the KPA.

The paraders marched past the plaza with the firm pledge to charge absolute weaponry, the strongest in the world, with the revolutionary ideas of the Workers' Party of Korea and fully display the honour of our generation with the miraculous feats and fresh legends of war victory surpassing heroism displayed in all annals of history.

At the end of the parade, the stormy cheers of excitement went up and fireworks were displayed in the nocturnal sky on V-Day.

Comrade Kim Jong Un warmly waved back to the enthusiastically cheering masses.

The parade fully demonstrated once again the firm faith and fighting spirit of the generation of successors to add great victories to the immortal feats of the victorious wartime generation under the leadership of Comrade Kim Jong Un, the banner of all victories, and usher in an era of a prosperous power unprecedented in history.
