Different countries committed to developing education
July 25, 2026Many nations are directing big efforts to education for their future and development.
The Mozambican president asked scholars in the field of education to establish a practical educational strategy.
At the National Higher Education Conference, he emphasized the need for a higher education system that is more powerful, comprehensive and compatible with national interests, saying that the development of the state is largely governed by the ability to train experts, create innovations and exploit resources as well as the physical infrastructure.
He noted that it is important to enhance the connectivity between colleges and communities to solve problems such as increase of agricultural productivity, climate change response and improvement of public services, and announced a plan to set up research centres specializing in applied research in the fields of agriculture, mining, energy, ocean and water across the country. He also stressed the need to increase higher education institutions and improve the quality of education.
The Ethiopian prime minister at a regular parliamentary session said that the education sector has achieved considerable progress through the historic reform.
Reaffirming that the improvement of educational quality and investment of human capital are among the top priority tasks of the government, he stressed that the government has built many mother schools and boarding schools across the country in the past as well as 35 000 kindergartens and infant centres in the past seven years as part of the long-term strategy for national development.
He noted that the construction of a university will be finished within six to seven months, describing it as a world-class university which will present a new standard of higher education in Ethiopia and Africa. The university reflects the ambition of the state to build an institution with a global competitive edge that is capable of preparing the younger generations for the rapidly developing digital economy, he said.
The Singaporean government officially announced that it would recruit 1 000 new teachers each year for the next few years. This measure aims to solve the lack of teachers and bring the country’s educational level in step with the worldwide trend of development in which great successes are being achieved in research into AI, climate change and other advanced science and technology fields.
Laos worked out a new draft law on improving the quality of general education and educational environment across the country. It called for analyzing and reviewing the course of implementing the action programme for intensifying the training of teachers and achieving qualitative development at educational units at all levels by improving the qualifications of teachers. The government took a series of innovative measures to increase the school admission rate and reduce the dropout rate.
The international community remains committed to training practice-oriented talents of their own style by channelling efforts into the development of education.
