Remains of martyrs were buried at the Fatherland Liberation War Martyrs Cemetery on the occasion of the 73rd anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War. They are Ji Chon Ryul and Kim Pong Gwan, heroes of the DPRK.

In the days of the hard-fought Fatherland Liberation War, they performed heroic feats in the decisive battles against the imperialist aggressors, true to the outstanding military ideas and Juche-oriented tactics of President Kim Il Sung.

From June to December 1951, Ji Chon Ryul was awarded the title of DPRK Hero for his feats of shooting down eight enemy planes. Later, he shot down several other enemy planes through the aircraft hunters’ team movement.

Kim Pong Gwan joined a snipers’ team in 1953 and performed a brilliant feat of shooting 160 enemy soldiers in a little over six months that year and worked hard for the prosperity of the country after the war.

Ceremonies for burying the remains of the martyrs took place at the Fatherland Liberation War Martyrs Cemetery on July 21.

The remains of the wife of Kim Pong Gwan were buried together. Remains of the wives of the already-buried martyrs Cha Ho Nam, Kim Kwang Su, Ri Wan Gun, Chae Jong Bo, Choe Un Hak and Ri Hui Gap were buried with their husbands'.

The participants in the ceremonies laid bouquets at the tombstones of the martyrs and paid silent tribute.
