Anniversary of victorious Sandinist people's revolution celebrated in DPRK

The Nicaraguan embassy in Pyongyang hosted a celebratory event at the Taedonggang Diplomatic Club on July 17 to mark the 47th anniversary of the victorious Sandinist people's revolution.

Present there at invitation were Jong Tong Hak, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK, officials concerned and members of the diplomatic corps in the country.

Nicaraguan Ambassador Manuel Modesto Munguia Martinez was on hand.

Speeches were made at the event.

The ambassador referred to the feats performed by the Sandinist National Liberation Front and the fighters in the resistance struggle in overthrowing the pro-US dictatorial regime and opening the road to the building of a new free, equal society.

He expressed the stand to strengthen and develop friendly relations with other countries in the efforts to build a free and just society.

Jong Tong Hak referred to the fact that President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il assisted materially and morally the Sandinist people's revolution and the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un is paying close attention to developing the ties between the two countries.

He wished the Nicaraguan people success in their efforts to defend the sovereignty of the country and achieve its socio-economic development.

Then the participants watched a video on the Sandinist people's revolution.
