Improved urban management and ecological environment in Pyongyang

Pyongyang Municipality has achieved marked successes in improving urban management and protecting ecological environment.

It has so far paved more than 201 300 square metres of roads, carried out river improvement in the section of about 60 kilometres, created new landscapes and repaired houses and public buildings this year.

Road and river improvement projects were pushed forward on a large scale.

Central and Songyo districts paved roads and painted lines along the roads by focusing on ensuring their safety and modernity, and Sadong and Hyongjesan districts newly paved the roads in the suburbs.

More than 40 000 square metres of sideways were also repaired.

Projects were carried out to dredge the Jangsan River, build retaining walls along the banks, arrange a fishing site and install new garden lamps and stone benches on its promenade, change the rails of Ryonghung and Pipha bridges to provide convenience and cultural resting places for the working people.

Sunan District completed the river improvement project in dozens of kilometres long sections during the spring general mobilization movement for land administration this year.

With the programme for turning Pyongyang into a city in a park going full steam ahead, Sosong and Mangyongdae districts created beautiful landscapes with good species of trees and ornamental flowers and Taesong District improved the landscapes of the parks in the district.
