‘Hwanggumyolmae’ in wide use
July 16, 2026Agricultural workers are widely using the agricultural sci-tech service program “Hwanggumyolmae (golden fruit)”.
The program enables users to read agricultural sci-tech data and receive question-and-answer service on sci-tech problems arising in farming in real time on the basis of the mobile communications network, and therefore it is called a close companion of scientific farming or guide to high yield.
The question-and-answer service of the program has so far been used tens of thousands of times, which shows well the growing enthusiasm of rural communities across the country for scientific farming.
The Kobu Farm in Sonchon County came to know through the service what kind of fertilizer and how much of it is needed and when it should be applied according to the growth of young rice plants and introduced it into practice. As a result, the farm could grow healthy rice seedlings and transplant them in the right time despite unfavourable weather conditions. All the agricultural workers of the farm have become enthusiastic users of the program, thus carrying out all farm operations, including paddy rice cultivation and weeding, in a scientific way.
Workteam No. 2 of the Inpho Farm in Songnim City has acquired more advanced farming methods and techniques, including data on growth forecast, science and techniques, achievements, common knowledge and technical experience, through the program and achieved solutions to the technical problems arising in farming through its question-and-answer service, thus applying them to practice.
Pak Ok Byol, leader of workteam No. 6 of the Taejong Farm of the South Phyongan Provincial Rural Economy Committee, said, “Last year, when rice bacterial leaf blight occurred in some fields belonging to the workteam, we could improve the nutritive conditions of the paddy rice by using ‘Jongsori (sound of bell) 1’ and phytosine after acquiring technical data through ‘Hwanggumyolmae’. And when some ears of paddy rice sprouted due to heavy rain in autumn, we could take agro-technical measures in time by using multi-element mineral fertilizer and calcium hydroxide thanks to the program.”
