Russian presidential press secretary Dmitri Peskov at a press conference on July 2 denounced the European Union’s policy of confrontation with Russia.

The EU’s tough stand against Russia will further aggravate the tension which has already escalated on the continent of Europe, he asserted.

Saying that Russia cannot turn its eyes away from the fact that Europe is absorbed in the confrontation with Moscow while taking the road of militarization, he noted that the EU's misbehaviour compels his country to take additional measures for security.

Russia's security and national interests will be firmly guaranteed, he added.
