Mass cultural and artistic activities are an inseparable part of life in every workplace including industrial establishments and farms.

The same is true of the Pyongyang Cosmetics Factory.

The factory boasts several collections of literary works created by members of its mass literature group and other employees.

According to Yun Pok Sil, chief of the group, works created by several employees were rated as excellent at the national mass literary work prize contest as they truthfully depicted their working life with simple and true-to-life poetic words and were carried in publications.

Han Jong Ran, a worker poet of the factory, said, “I feel pride and pleasure in my work to the full at the workplace with good working and living conditions. I wanted to depict it in poems and songs as it is.”

The factory has not only worker poets but also many other talents including solo singer, accordion player and janggu (hourglass drum) master.

On significant days of the factory or public holidays they give diverse art performances to win great admiration from other employees and their occasional mobile artistic activities conducted at the production sites stimulate the employees’ enthusiasm for production.

“Without songs and dances in our life vibrant with creation and innovation, it is like a flower bed without flowers.”

This is what every employee of the Pukchang Thermal Power Complex says.

At the complex which has paid close attention to organizing and conducting colourful mass cultural and artistic activities, officials took the lead in learning to play popular instruments and the employees enthusiastically learned to play one or more instruments.

Thus, optimism and emotion pervaded workshops and workteams and everyone became possessors of rich cultural attainments.

Shortly ago, when it was announced that an art performance would be given by each workshop, all the employees competitively turned out in the preparations for the performance.

There took place a performance involving all the employees to be acclaimed by the audience as they fully displayed their high artistic skills while preserving the unique features of their units well.

All of the employees say that they feel pleasure in their jobs as they always live and work while singing songs.
